Flushing Town Hall
Tuesday July 12, 2005
Have you ever been to the Flushing Town Hall? No, it's not a town hall but an arts and music venue run by the local arts council. Its community arts programming is the best in Queens with concerts, art exhibits, festivals, and jazz tours. If I was forced to complain, I would about the concert ticket prices, but that's the cost of quality.
Here are a couple reasons to make your first visit this weekend.
- "Saving Stuff"
- Saturday, July 16 at 2 p.m.
- Hands-on workshop for preserving personal treasures and family heirlooms with Louisa Jagger and Don Williams of the Smithsonian, the authors of Saving Stuff .
- Artists' Clothesline Sale
- Sunday, July 17, 2005 from noon to 5 p.m.
- A special informal gallery in the garden with local artists pricing their work below -- even way below -- $300. Includes paintings, drawings, photography, enamel work, prints, and sculpture by artists members of the Flushing Council on the Arts. such as Tina Utsey and Yala Korwin.
