Extravaganza in Flushing Meadows Park — June 18 and 19

Wednesday June 1, 2005
Celebrate Queens at Flushing Meadows Corona Park the weekend of June 18 and 19. A carnival with rides, entertainment (Deborah Cox and TKA), and even waterskiing championships will take over Flushing Meadows for the weekend.

The event is to raise money for the renovation of the 1964 World's Fair's New York State Pavilion, which you might know as those two towers featured in Men in Black.

It's also a push for the NYC 2012 Olympic bid. If New York gets the Olympics, Flushing Meadows will host several events, and temporarily be renamed Olympic Park. The Olympic Committee announces the winner on July 6, so the more people who turn out to cheer on NYC in Flushing Meadows, the better.
