Got Mets? Bars Televising the 2005 Mets Games

Wednesday April 20, 2005
Miss watching the Mets play on TV? Looking for a bar that has the Amazings on satellite? Look no further: Mets fans are in a bind this season -- at least those in NYC who subscribe to Time Warner Cable. A dispute with Cablevision has blacked out all Mets games but the 60 that are televised on local Channel 9. Time Warner plans to refund its 2.4 million NYC subscribers $2 a month, but that's not much compensation for fans missing out on the new Mets.

A lot of bars are caught in the same trap, losing business, but here are a few bars in Queens showing the Mets games.

Meanwhile, politicians are more than happy to lash out on behalf of "typical Mets fans." City Councilman James Oddo addressed Time Warner and Cablevision execs: "You sound like a bunch of rich suits who are tugging over money."
