The Birds Are Back in Town

Thursday March 24, 2005
Birding in Jamaica Bay? More birds and types of birds visit Jamaica Bay than anywhere else in New York. The Bay's islands, wetlands, and ponds are a prime stop-over for birds migrating up and down the Atlantic flyway.

It just snowed again, but that's not stopping the birds. It's flying time. From late March to late April it's prime season for birding in Jamaica Bay (fall is even better). Get your binoculars and boots and enjoy the wildlife in the shadow of JFK arrivals and departures.
