Greater New York 2005 to Open at P.S. 1

Tuesday March 8, 2005
Greater New York 2005, a survey of the best emerging artists working in New York City (and across the Hudson in Jersey) will open this Sunday, March 13, at P.S. 1. Curators from P.S. 1 and MoMA have filled all of P.S. 1's exhibit space with the work of about 150 artists--from the more than 2,000 who applied--to represent the latest and greatest in NYC art.

Greater New York 2005 is the biggest deal at P.S. 1 in a while. It's the second incarnation of Greater New York, and only includes artists who have gotten it together since the first was held in 2000. Preparation for this mammoth show have forced P.S. 1 to shut its doors since February 22, and the opening will coincide with a new P.S. 1 website.

  • Greater New York
    • Opening: March 13, noon to 6 p.m.
    • March 13 to September 26, 2005
    • P.S. 1, 22-25 Jackson Ave, LIC (Visiting P.S. 1)
  • Coffee before the Greater New York opening: Ten 63 is the best cavernous cafe in LIC, but their better breakfast options don't require heating. (Ten 63, 10-63 Jackson, between Vernon and 11th St., 718-482-7679)
  • Drinks after the opening: Lounge 47 is the coolest bar in Queens and serves a great burger. (Lounge 47, 47-10 Vernon Blvd, at 47th Ave, 718-937-2044)
