Drivers from two private bus companies plan to walk off the job at 12:01 a.m., January 9. Their strike would affect over 70,000 Monday morning commuters in Queens and Brooklyn.
The unions representing drivers for Green Bus Lines and Command Bus lines have been in labor disputes with NYC for months. Maybor Bloomberg has refused to back down in the face of a strike.
The Green Bus Lines operates in central and southern Queens, with many local lines running out of downtown Jamaica. Though "dollar vans" will run on all bus routes affected, Monday is sure to be a slow commute.
