Malls in Queens: Expansion of the Queens Center Mall

Tuesday November 16, 2004
The premier mall in the borough—the Queens Center Mall on Queens Boulevard in Elmhurst— has finished its year-long renovation, and celebrates its expansion this weekend. The opening festivities will kick-off with the lighting of the biggest Christmas tree in Queens, and include entertainment, sales, and prizes. The mall has also launched an ad campaign featuring 19 actual Queens residents.

There are now 150 stores open at the mall with plans to increase the number to 175. Queens Center Mall is the most profitable mall in the U.S. per square foot. It has a great location right next to the smaller Queens Place Mall, and there are plenty of public transportation options. The only problem is parking—it's a crazy headache alleviated only by taking the subway.
