Ridgewood, Queens

Ridgewood is one of the most attractive urban neighborhoods in Queens. My grandmother grew up in Ridgewood, and the housing built in her 1920s youth still dominates the neighborhood. German builders put up brick multi-family row houses, like in Brooklyn, while most of Queens was still green. Check this profile to catch more of the flavor of Ridgewood today.

Hello,
Im from the UK and I’m travelling to New York, Ridgewood later this year in July.
Is there anything exciting to do and can you give me a bit of information on the crime rate/safety etc.
(My mom worries more than she should..)
Thank you.
It’s fine as long as you don’t leave your car around on the street.
Hi!
I found a summer intenrship in NYC and plan on staying at Ridgewood( on George Street). I live in Montreal so don’t know the city at all. Is this a safe area? How long of a commute is it to Wall Street?
Thanks!
I am moving to George st. next week (moved here from California)…it is a nice quite street.
Lot of stores on Myrtel Ave.
I was told by a resident of Ridgewood to avoid Wycoff ave. in the night…
Hope this helps.

i grew up in ridgewood and it is a pretty nice area but it isnt the best either. i now live in brooklyn by wycoff. i walk across wycoff atleast once a week real late at night and have not run into problems where im at but further down wycoff by hancock isnt a good area to be at night alone. but do be careful where ever you are because no matter how good the neigborhood is someone or something bad can always come your way.
Your car is fine, don’t worry…
