Gantry Plaza State Park, Small But Great
Wednesday September 15, 2004
Long Island City's Gantry Plaza State Park is the first public part of Queens West, the planned transformation of western Queens' shore. The park is beautiful. Its piers extend out into the East River, and its views of Midtown Manhattan are superb. Directly across from the United Nations, Gantry is also a great spot to watch the fireworks show on July 4th.
Upcoming Events at Gantry and LIC:
- Hunters Point Festival, Saturday, September 18, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Vernon Blvd. and 49th Ave., at St. Mary's Church, free.
- LIC Walking Tour, Sunday, September 19, 1:30 to- 4 p.m., Municipal Art Society at 212-935-3960, $15.
- Gantry Park Concert, Sunday, September 19, 3 to 7 p.m., free blues and jazz.
