President Bush to Elmhurst, Queens
Thursday September 2, 2004
Last night, President Bush came to Queens to accept the support of the Firefighters Union. The event, held at Italian Charities of America on Queens Boulevard, shut down Queens' busiest commercial thoroughfare (though protesters did make it to the scene).
We can only hope that Bush got a look at Queens' style in an area featuring Korean, Chinese, Latino, Italian, Uzbek, Indian, and Irish stores, pubs, and restaurants. Beyond a few select firefighters, he didn't get to meet the people in Elmhurst, but at least he should have caught a glance at Queens' wild diversity.
