Bird Watching and Hiking in Jamaica Bay
Sunday August 15, 2004
The Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge is renowned as one of the largest bird sanctuaries in the northeastern United States. It is the best place in New York City to observe seasonal migration of birds, especially in August as shorebirds begin their flights south. A mile and a half trail on mostly dry land is a good hike for birding or just getting some exercise.
