Airtrain Set to Link JFK and Howard Beach: December 17

Monday December 15, 2003
All aboard! This Wednesday, December 17, the Airtrain light-rail is scheduled to run its first passenger train between JFK Airport, Howard Beach, and downtown Jamaica, Queens. After five years of planning, construction, and delays, and a tragic accident, the Airtrain will connect passengers to JFK from the A subway in Howard Beach and the LIRR and E, J, and Z subways in Jamaica. The fare is $5 and a monthly pass is $40. The Airtrain will run above the traffic along the Van Wyck Expressway—perhaps jealousy will convert some of the drivers sitting in traffic to Airtrain passengers. [br][br] Still need to drive to JFK? Check this link for instructions on getting to JFK by car.
