Free Chutney Concert This Friday

Thursday August 28, 2003
Come hear Indo-Caribbean and Chutney music at Flushing Town Hall this Friday, August 29, at 8 p.m. Robbie Dalip & The Powah's, all the way from Trinidad, will play a free outdoor concert. The Flushing Town Hall is at 137-35 Northern Boulevard in Flushing. Click here for directions.

Chutney music is a style created in Trinidad by Indo-Caribbeans that makes you move to the rhythm. It’s derived from Indian music but with African and other bits cooked in for good measure. Yes, only in Queens do we get to hear this treat just around the corner on a Friday night.
